Denial Letter-What next?
You received a letter from Social Security denying you claim for disability. The letter states that you do not qualify for benefits. What do you do now?
You have sixty (days) to file an appeal. However, do not wait that long. File as soon as possible. You have to ask for an appeal in writing, but you can complete your request online.
Review these items before your file your appeal.
- Medical records including current dates of treatment and addresses of your doctors, hospitals and clinics.
- Be able to explain your current condition (is it worse since you first filed).
- Any changes in your daily activities.
Remember the process of obtaining your benefits can take a long time. If you file your appeal quickly, you can reduce the time and obtain your disability benefits faster. This is the part of the process you control. Do not delay in filing your appeal.
