Bankruptcy

Bankruptcy is the most powerful tool you can use to get debt relief.  Know your rights.  Make a plan to deal with your creditors.

Choose the type of bankruptcy you should file, either Chapter 7 or Chapter 13.

File a petition to start your bankruptcy case.  List all your financial information, your property or assets, your debts, and your income and expenses (monthly budget).

Once you file your case, the automatic stay will stop all collection actions, such as:

  • Phone calls
  • Lawsuits
  • Judgments
  • Garnishment
  • Repossession
  • Foreclosure

A successful bankruptcy will discharge your debts, meaning they will be cancelled.

Remember, if you do not understand how bankruptcy works, you are limiting your options to deal with your creditors.
